Certificate Programs

There are four spay and neuter certificate programs that serve our region. With each of these programs, you can purchase a certificate for a spay or neuter operation that can then be used at participating veterinary offices. The certificates are significantly cheaper than the standard costs for spay and neuter operations.

Please note that some veterinary offices will charge additional fees on top of the cost of the certificate. As you search through the directory of vet clinics on this website, the listing for each location will note which if any of the certificate programs that veterinary clinic participates in and whether they require an additional payment beyond the price of the certificate.

The four certificate programs serving our region are:

Morris Animal Refuge Spay/Neuter Program

Morris Animal Refuge is located at 1242 Lombard Street, Philadelphia, PA. Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11am-7pm; Monday and Saturday 11am-4pm. The Refuge is closed to the public on Thursday and Sunday. Certificates must be purchased by cash (no credit cards), and must be purchased in person. The Morris Spay/Neuter Certificate is good at all participating veterinarians. Certificate costs are $40 each for cats and $60 each for dogs. Extra costs may apply at participating veterinary offices.

Friends of Animals

Certificates may be purchased on line by going to www.friendsofanimals.org and clicking on “programs.” Scroll down to “spaying and neutering” and click on that link. Certificates may also be ordered by mail by calling 1-800-321-PETS (1-800-321-7387) and requesting an application. The Friends of Animals certificate can be used for a routine spay or neuter surgery at participating veterinarians. Certificate costs are as follows: Female cat - $65; Male cat - $51; Female dog - $90; Male dog - $64.

The Spayed Club

The Spayed Club offers low cost spay/neuter certificates to qualifying people. To qualify, household (NOT individual) yearly income must be $35,000 or less, although allowances are made for special circumstances. Applications may be obtained from the Spayed Club website at www.thespayedclub.org and must be mailed. You can also obtain a certificate by calling 610-275-7486, line #1, and leaving a message asking that an application be mailed out to you. The certificate is considered financial assistance toward the surgery, so the cost varies as determined from the application. The certificate is good at the Spayed Club’s participating vets, and there may be restrictions and extra fees.

Spay and Save, Inc

Spay And Save - www.spayandsave.org - issues discount spaying and neutering certificates provided by participating veterinarians. Discount certificates are designed for those who need financial assistance to spay or neuter domestic or feral animals. Requires completion of an application which is available on-line. You can also obtain a discount form by calling 610-279-9714 or sending request to Spay and Save, Inc, P.O.Box 122, Lafayette Hill, PA 19444. Cost of Discount Certificate: Cat spay (female) $38-70, cat neuter (male) $25-50, dog spay (female) $60-180, dog neuter (male) $39-150. The certificate matches to a specific veterinarian selected from Spay and Save, Inc.’s participating list.
